The Stargazer – a shepherds hut. Sleeps 2 adults

The Stargazer should be available by the summer of 2022.

You can book to stay here through www.holidaycottages.co.uk.

You can wild camp in the meadow if you have your own small tent.

Our five acre wild flower meadow has a few nearly level spaces for you to pitch your own small tent on. This is camping (for adults only) with a difference. Family focused self catering accommodation is available at The Bull Pen.

The camping field is known as The SET. This is the name of a badgers house, and hidden away in the corner of this field  is where our resident badger family lives. Deer, pheasants, rabbits, birds and butterflies also live here so we are sorry but we do not allow children or dogs to camp and we ask campers to respect the peaceful nature of this Site of Special Scientific Interest.(SSSI) If you want to set up your bird watching hide, soak up the sun, meditate, read, paint or sleep all day so you can star gaze all night this could be your perfect spot.

In order to maximize the setting of seed and development of the wild flower meadow we manage the site by only cutting the grass once a year after the seed has fallen. This is never done before the first week of August. We lift the grass to prevent enrichment of the soil, as  wild flowers require impoverished soil conditions. We mow a path around the edge of the field  so you can explore the hedgerows, the orchard and the wooded areas. The middle of the field is fenced and mowed so dogs staying at the cottages can be let off leads to run and play. In April and May the wood is filled with bluebells, then the cider apple orchard bursts into blossom, the grass is full of cowslips, primroses, violets, celandine, clover and buttercup. The cherry trees and hawthorns flower next, followed by the dog roses, fox gloves and harebells. When the season is right you can pick blackberries, sloes, wild raspberries and cider apples. You can sign up for one of our workshops to create your own bottle of sloe gin or rough cider or we can help you identify the flowers, trees and birds if you would like that.

Cars are parked in the farmyard, where you will also find.
